In April 2005, Moran & Kufta launched the "Get Better" US Troop Appreciation Program, designed to provide financial support to several local military families as a way of showing it's appreciation for their sacrifices and service to our Country.
On July 1, 2005, Moran & Kufta awarded 17 Military families from the Monroe, Livingston, and surrounding area. "The financial impact of sending a husband or wife to war is often not recognized", said Moran. "Quite often the stay-at-home spouse is burdened with costs for child care, home repairs and maintenance while their spouse is gone. The purpose of this program is to help some of these families cope with these additional expenses. It just isn't right that a young man or woman who is serving our country so courageously and risking so much should have the additional burden of worrying about how their family is doing financially at home."
The families came from Rochester, Geneva, Webster, Leichester, Hemlock, Hilton Spencerport, Clifton Springs, Mt. Morris and Williamson. The gifts varied from providing round-trip airfare to bring a young marine home from Hawaii before being deployed to Iraq, to paying for a wedding reception for a couple who got married while the husband was on leave, to paying for tuition, to covering some unexpected living expenses.

The families were honored at Frontier Field at Red Wings Game on July 1, 2005. The entire evening was known as the “Salute the Troops” event and was presented by the US Army 98th Division. Major General Bruce Robinson, commander of the 98th Division, was in attendance and participated, as was Major James Lincoln.
